Department Of Pathology

At KCMC Hospital Pathology is a medical specialty that focuses on the study and diagnosis of diseases through the examination of tissues, organs, body fluids, and cells. It is often referred to as the "science of disease," as it investigates the causes, mechanisms, and effects of diseases on the body.

Pathology plays a critical role in clinical care by providing essential information for the diagnosis, prognosis, and management of diseases. It serves as a bridge between laboratory findings and clinical practice, allowing clinicians to make informed decisions. Pathology is fundamental to the entire continuum of patient care, from diagnosis to treatment and follow-up, contributing to more accurate, evidence-based medical decision-making.

Pathology Department of the KCMC has four working units, namely Histopathology, Cytopathology, Cancer Registry, and Mortuary Units. The Department provides diagnostic services to KCMC and other hospitals within and outside the region.
